SUMMER BLUES
By Kathy Kenney-Marshal
Finally it's summertime,
The school is closed up tight.
No more scary teacher,
No more spelling word to write
No more quizzes, no more tests,
No science, reading, math.
No more nightly homework,
And no boring nightly bath.
No more waking early
No more bedtime rules to break.
No more faking that I have;
Just bathing suits and short.
Collecting frogs not caring if
They pee and give me wart.
It's time to suck on popsicles.
Time for lemonade
Time to go to beaches.
Time to play in the arcade.
Time for building awesome fort
Time for hide and seek
Time for going barefoot
Time for fishing in the creak
Time to go to bed real late
With dirt beneath my nails
From hunting salamander, bugs,
And slimy creeping snails
I dream of all the stuff find
While drifting off to sleep! I will
A really ancient arrow head
A pile of gold to keep!
But as I ate my breakfast
On my first full day of fun,
My mom said summer reading 15 here!
No playing til done.
So now the salamanders roam
No fort, no arrowhead.
Just me alone with tons of books
Left moping on my bed
Taken from internet by Uci
